Second Husband™ Does New York: A Love Letter to Late Nights, Layered Outfits & Lox

If New York were a man, we'd marry him twice. And last month, the Second Husband™ founders did just that—with a whirlwind weekend in Manhattan that tasted like martinis, smelled like freshly baked bagels, and looked like something out of a Slim Aarons photograph.

Here’s what made our trip iconic:

🍸 First stop: Bemelmans Bar, Upper East Side

Because no Second Husband™ trip begins without a dirty martini and a piano serenade under the glow of Ludwig Bemelmans’ whimsical murals. We dressed the part (classic cap, crisp oxford, just a hint of joie de vivre) and clinked glasses to good taste and better lighting.

🍝 A Proper Dinner at Il Gattopardo

When in doubt, we always go Italian. This Midtown gem served us tender gnocchi, fresh seafood, and an evening that felt like a scene from The Talented Mr. Ripley—minus the drama, plus extra parmesan. Pro tip: say yes to the octopus.
📍 Il Gattopardo, 13–15 W 54th St.

🦪 A Mediterranean Moment at Avra, Rockefeller Center

Outdoor dining under twinkling lights. Ice-cold martinis with a view. Oysters, caviar, and the kind of energy that makes you want to order “just one more bottle.” Avra was effortless, elegant, and absolutely Second Husband™ core.

🥯 The Bagel Bracket: Broad Nosh vs. Apollo

No NYC morning is complete without bagels—plural. We did our due diligence at Broad Nosh (cue the cucumber-dill crunch) and Apollo Bagels (the salmon, the schmear, the drama). Verdict? Tie. The real winner was us.

🍰 Sweet Finale at Veniero’s Pasticceria & Caffé

To end the trip, we dropped by Veniero’s, a storied East Village bakery that serves cannoli, fruit tarts, and nostalgia in equal measure. We left with a box full of sweets—and zero regrets.
📍 Veniero’s Pasticceria, 342 E 11th St.

🍕 One Last Bite: Ray’s Pizza

Before the airport, after the wine, or sometime in between—Ray’s was the slice we didn’t know we needed. That paper plate moment in white heels? Iconic. You haven’t done New York right until you’ve had a late-night slice that’s bigger than your head.

The Takeaway:

NYC reminded us why we built this brand—to dress the part wherever life takes us. Whether it’s a late dinner in Midtown or a bagel run downtown, Second Husband™ is here to elevate your essentials. Every trip deserves a little luxury, a few carbs, and a whole lot of layers.
